What was the Steven Spielberg movie that featured a giant man-eating shark?
Most Baby Boomers won’t forget this one. Jaws is set in the fictional town of Amity Island, New York; which was roughly based on and shot on Martha’s Vineyard. It featured the town being terrorized a giant man-eating great white shark, and the efforts of the lead cast of Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, and Richard Dreyfuss to hunt it down.
Released in 1975, it would become the first summer blockbuster, and was important in creating the Hollywood standard which sought high box office returns through action-adventure films. And it was the film that established Steven Spielberg’s name as one the best film-makers of our time.
