Who co-founded Microsoft along with Bill Gates?
Microsoft, which is short for Microcomputer software, is a computer company founded on April 4, 1975, by Bill Gates and Paul Allen. Starting out, the company sold BASIC interpreters for the Altair 8800, a primitive early computer. With the release of MS-DOS and later Windows, Microsoft would dominate the personal operating system market.
Bill Gates and Paul Allen were childhood friends who decided to put their computer programming skills to good use. Allen left Microsoft in 1983 after a diagnosis of Hodgkin’s disease. He succumbed to his illness on October 15, 2018, when he died of septic shock.
