Monopoly is a board game that emerged at the beginning of the 20th century. Parker Brothers bought the copyrights of the game from the original inventors, Charles Darrow and Lizzie Magie. Now, the game, as well as Parker Brothers itself, is a part of Hasbro.

You win in Monopoly by bankrupting the other players by charging them rent whenever they land on your properties — you may remember the frustation of landing on an opposing player’s property with houses, or worse, a hotel!; the last player standing wins the game. Interestingly, the original inventor, Lizzie Magie, created the game as a caution against private monopolies. She also created an anti-monopolist version where wealth was rewarded to all players equally.
