What was the name of the famous music festival that happened in New York state on August 15-18, 1969?
The Woodstock music festival is perhaps the most infamous event in music history, as well as for the counterculture movement of the 1960s. It happened on Max Yasgur’s dairy farm in Bethel, New York, which was about 65 km southwest of the town of Woodstock. It was billed as “An Aquarian Experience: 3 Days of Peace and Music,” and was a tremendous success, with almost half a million attendees. And surely many of them will remember it fondly today. It rained for much of the event, but the people didn’t mind, including the 32 acts who performed outdoors. All they cared about was to experience music, and spread the message of peace.
