Who performed the 1958 hit song “Yakety Yak”?

The Coasters formed in 1955 when band-mates Carl Gardner and Bobby Nunn joined Billy Guy and Leon Hughes to form a new group for Atlantic Records. Gardner and Nunn had previously been in The Robins, an early pioneer of doo-wop. The Coasters got their name from the fact that they played all over America, from coast to coast. As well as “Yakety Yak” the group’s other hits include “Down in Mexico” and “Searchin'”. In 1987 The Coasters were the first band ever to be conducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
