Who was the first American to walk in space?
The first American to walk in space was Ed White. This was achieved during the Gemini 4 mission on June 3, 1965. White “space walked” for 20 minutes while being tethered to the spacecraft, while Command Pilot James McDivitt remained inside. One of the experiments they did was trying to use a sextant. And it was also the first manned space flight that lasted multiple days.
