Known for his sign-off catchphrase, “And that’s the way it is”, Walter Cronkite reported on the biggest news stories from 1937 to 1981. He broke the news of the Kennedy assassination to the American people, reported on the moon landings and Watergate, and took part in the first transatlantic broadcast.
