In which island did the US test the hydrogen bomb?
The United States government tested the first hydrogen bomb on an island in the pacific on November 1, 1952. This operation was codenamed Ivy Mike. It was a thermonuclear device that derives its destructive force from a process called nuclear fusion.
The detonation, all recorded on camera, was a spectacular display of destruction the likes of which were never seen before by any mortal eyes. It was such devastation that it completely wiped the island it was tested on, leaving behind a huge crater that was eventually filled with water. The world woke up to the massive power of nuclear weapons.
