When Hugh Hefner sold the first issue of the Playboy in December 1953 it was undated as he was unsure whether there ever will be a second issue. Little did he know then the hugely successful brand he was going to create.
The first issue featured none other than Marilyn Monroe — a popular sex icon of that time. While Monroe was featured on the cover page, it was the nude photo of her in the centerfold that made the magazine sell wildly.
