Which Apollo Mission suffered an accident and failed its mission to land on the moon?
Apollo 13 was supposed to be the third mission to land a crew on the surface of the moon. But two days into the mission, an oxygen tank in the service module malfunctioned, and this caused significant damage to the life support system. This forced the abortion of the lunar landing, with NASA instead focusing on bringing the astronauts safely back to earth. All of them did survive and returned home safely. The events of this ill-fated mission were depicted in the 1995 movie featuring Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, and Bill Paxton.
