Who was the real doctor who was claimed to be the inspiration behind the Beatles’ song, “Doctor Robert?”
It was 1960s author Barry Miles who identified the real Dr Robert – Dr Rober Freymann of Manhattan, New York. Freymann was a physician known as the “Speed Doctor” who supplied many celebrities and rich clientele with drugs; often in the form of vitamin B-12 spiked with amphetamines.
The song itself was supposedly written by John Lennon alone, and was part of the original Revolver album. But it wasn’t part of the American release. It only appeared later in the Yesterday and Today album.
