Which comic book superhero emerged for the first time in 1962?
In 1962, Spider-man appeared for the first time in issue #15 of the anthology comic book Amazing Fantasy. The teenage superhero with spider-like abilities was created by Stan Lee and was illustrated by Steve Ditko.
Marvel publisher Martin Goodman was reluctant to give Spider-man a place in the comics. He only agreed to let the wall crawler in Amazing Fantasy #15 because it was supposed to be the last issue. However, the success of Spider-Man would earn him his own series, named The Amazing Spider-Man.
